Optimizing what you already have.
If you have been thinking that buying a new computer is the most cost effective path to more speed and productivity, we suggest that you call Mac N Tech first before you buy. If it is a shiny new Mac or PC you must have, then Mac N Tech is glad to help you migrate from your old machine to the new one, smoothly and easily.
If, however, you are looking for a more cost effective path to the speed you need, it is very likely that, if you own a computer that is less than 5 years old, installing upgrades is a better choice.
Have you ever heard of Moore’s Law? In 1965, Gordon Moore, a chip producer at Intel, made a prediction that would set the pace for our modern digital revolution. Moore extrapolated that computing would dramatically increase in power, and decrease in relative cost, at an exponential pace. Basically, Mr. Moore postulated that the processing power of computers would double every two years.
What does Moore’s Law have to do with any of this? If you were to compare the specifications of your current computer to that shiny new one, you are likely to see that not a whole lot has changed since 2010. Moore’s Law has mostly been stalled in our last decade. It is now much more cost effective to upgrade rather than buy new.
